Hungary has a long history of inventors and innovation, creating many things we’ve come to love and rely on today. Here we explore 7 of the most well know.

1. The Rubik's Cube

Invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik in 1974, the Rubik's Cube is a three-dimensional puzzle game that has become a cultural icon.

2. The ballpoint pen

Invented by Hungarian-Argentinian inventor László Bíró in 1938, the ballpoint pen is a writing instrument that uses a small, rotating ball in a socket to transfer ink to paper.

3. The holographic display

Invented by Hungarian scientist Dennis Gábor in 1947, the holographic display is a technique for creating three-dimensional images by projecting laser light through a holographic medium.
